Phone advisory

My personal phone--the one with the 319 area code--is faltering. Lately it's decided to let its displays go blank until the phone rings, when it delivers a random light display. After it stops ringing, the displays go blank again. The upshot is this: I don't know when you've left me a voice mail.

Until I know the fate of my program's funding in the Texas Legislature, I'm loathe to renew my personal cell phone account with Cingular, since one of the possibilities for me would be to move to an area not served by the company. (Yes, there still are some places in the frontier not covered by them!) So I continue to limp along with my current phone, since replacing it without renewing the contract could cost $300 or more.

Sooo, here are your instructions: if you want to talk with me and I don't answer the personal phone, don't leave a message. Just call me instead on the office phone, the one with the 432 area code. Leave your message there if I don't catch the call. By the way, I LOVE hearing from you, so don't let this deter you from making a call!

On the edge of El Paso

The Franklin Mountains State Park wowed me this week--so many species of wildflowers!

Always Something Interesting Coming Down the Road

In this case, it was a semi-trailer with picture windows revealing a racecar inside. It was parked at the Van Horn Holiday Inn Express, which you can see in the reflection.
