
Revised, January 2,2006My sister, Linda! She was the first to correctly identify this little fella as a javelina. I've seen them several times since I arrived. While they look like pigs, they have anatomical differences and are classified as collared peccaries. To me, they look like they stepped right out of the pages of Where the Wild Things Are.
New photo on the left, taken by the Sierra Blanca rodeo grounds on December 31. There are three HUGE javelina there in the middle of the picture,though the third is a little challenging to spot. This was my fifth personal sighting of javelina since I moved here.
